Any honest thoughts are appreciated. I’ve told them it is a tough road, and that some find a profitable niche and some don’t; it’ll teach them some life lessons, something about retail, economics, honest and dishonest vendors, etc. Your input would be sincerely appreciated. Assume this individual would be working with total capital of approximately 0k and would work from his home office.

Realistically, is there a reasonable way this individual could master getting in and out of investments in a way that leads to a significantly higher return than the general market?
I am pretty well versed in the efficient market hypothesis, and I generally think that short-term trading is little more than flipping coins with transaction costs. But there clearly are entire firms set up that apparently make money trading the market, and there are individuals who do make significant income trading. These successful traders are likely like any business person who found a profitable niche: they do all they can to not publicize how they’re making money.

I am very new to affiliate marketing and looking for some help on how to do niche research. I know that having a profitable niche is necessary to make money, but how do you find one? What methods do you use or where can I at least find some reliable and helpful info?
There seem to be lots of people who will charge for this knowledge, but there have to be some good free sources out there for identifying profitable niche markets for blogs/websites/forums. What are the best ones? What’s a good place to start?
